Curriculum

Why should schools have a fixed curriculum?

For any system to function properly it is important that its operations are streamlined. Similarly, a framework is a must for schools to be able to give better quality education. Fixed curriculums act as the essential framework and give structure to the learning process.

As learning goals related to each subject become clearer, they also start seeming more achievable.

The idea behind the curriculum is to provide the right education that the next generation really deserves. So, what is a good curriculum? The amalgamation of many minds and energies brings valuable vision and perceptions concerned with society’s interests and needs. It is the base of readying the next generation for what comes next.

So, does a fixed curriculum really help?

Here are 4 reasons why having a good curriculum counts:

Fixed curriculums bring in the unique culture

A fixed and more localized curriculum introduces cultural relevance to the children. This keeps them grounded and helps them feel a sense of belonging. A fixed curriculum not just offers students a more secure space to grow but also makes education more relatable.

Keeping up with changes becomes easier

The teaching process becomes more streamlined with a curriculum that is already fixed. This helps the whole education system, including students, teachers, and lawmakers to keep up with the ever-changing world in better and more systematic ways.

Consistency and quality

Fixed curriculums help in maintaining consistency. Long-term and short-term learning goals become much clearer to achieve. With the curriculum already mapped out, the quality of education becomes better. Teachers get to focus on teaching methods rather than having to streamline the syllabus.

Parents get to actively participate

Being actively involved in their child’s day-to-day activities is difficult for working parents. Having a fixed curriculum makes it easier for parents to be systematically updated. The parent can also track their child’s progress at school and be more involved in the learning process eventually.

The basic idea of a fixed curriculum is to provide students with impactful, updated material while finding better and more efficient ways to teach them. A solid plan to execute the detailed and measured process of a “fixed curriculum” brings stability and helps in making a difference in the pattern of learning.
